Adoption
Adoption has always been a sacred act performed by the humans. However it is still a very sensitive topic in India. In India, an Indian with a minimum age of 25 whether he or she is married or single, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), or a person belonging to any nationality (foreigner) may adopt a child. The guidelines and documentation process for each group of adoptive parents may differ. Hindus (including Buddhist, Jain or Sikh by religion) can opt for adoption under the THE HINDU ADOPTIONS AND MAINTENANCE ACT, 1956 and personal laws of Muslim, Christian, Parsis and Jews do not recognise complete adoption and hence if a person belonging to such religion has a desire to adopt a child can do so under the The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015 up to the age of 18.
